Install the desktop app
The Workify360 Focus desktop app records which app is in front and whether the computer is in use, and sends it to your company’s Focus account. Each person installs it on their own computer and signs in with their own account. This article describes desktop app 2.0.
Download
Section titled “Download”Sign in to the dashboard and open Downloads. The page suggests the file for your operating system and shows the version, the file size and its SHA-256 checksum. The links below always download the latest version as well:

Section titled “Sign in”- Start Workify360 Focus. Its icon appears in the macOS menu bar, the Windows system tray or the Linux tray.
- Click the icon and choose Sign in…. The Workify360 sign-in page opens in your browser, at
auth.focus.workify360.com. - Sign in there with your e-mail address and password, or with the sign-in method your company uses. The browser then tells you to return to the app, and your name appears at the top of the menu.
The first time you start the desktop app, Start at login is turned on, so Focus starts with your computer. You can turn it off in the same menu.
The menu
Section titled “The menu”The menu of desktop app 2.0 shows who is signed in and offers Open panel, Private time, Sign in… or Sign out…, Start at login, the Help menu and Quit Workify360 Focus. Every item, the warnings and the grey icon are described in the desktop app menu.
Outside your company’s tracking hours, the app says in the menu that it is not sending.
Update
Section titled “Update”Desktop app 2.0 updates itself. It looks for a new version in the background and downloads it. The update is installed:
- when you choose Install update and restart (2.0.1) in the menu (with the new version number), or
- by itself, once nobody has used the computer for 10 minutes.
The app restarts within a few seconds and keeps your sign-in and settings. Every update is checked against the signing key built into the app before it is installed. On macOS, the Accessibility permission stays in place.
On Linux, the AppImage updates itself the same way. The deb and rpm packages do not: the app shows a notification and the menu item New version 2.0.1: download (with the new version number), which opens install on Linux. Install the new package with the same command as the first time.
When the app cannot update itself
Section titled “When the app cannot update itself”If the menu shows Workify360 Focus cannot update itself: help…, the app could not replace its own files. This happens on a Mac where an administrator installed the app and you use a standard account. Ask your administrator to install the new version from Downloads, or install it over the old one yourself if you have administrator rights.
Update required
Section titled “Update required”When a new version changes how the desktop app talks to Workify360, an old version can no longer send activity. Desktop app 2.0 and later then show the notification “Workify360 Focus needs to be updated; syncing has stopped.” and a warning in the menu. If a new version is available, the app installs it by itself and says “Workify360 Focus is updating and will restart in a few seconds.”
If it cannot, install the new version by hand:
- Download the new version from Downloads in the dashboard or from the links above.
- Install it over the old one, as described in the guide for your system. You do not need to uninstall first.
- Start Focus and check that your name is at the top of its menu. If the menu offers Sign in… instead, sign in again.
Nothing is lost meanwhile: the app keeps recording on your computer and sends the waiting activity after the update. Activity older than 30 days is not sent, so update within a few days. Help ▸ Troubleshoot this computer also reports an outdated version (troubleshoot this computer).
