Desktop app 2.0.7

Version 2.0.7Desktop app

Desktop app 2.0.7 reads less in the browser and closes two gaps of 2.0.6:

  • No addresses when the setting is off: when your company has turned off Record website addresses, the app no longer reads website addresses at all, so they are not stored on the computer either. Before, it read them and removed them before sending. The app also reads no addresses until it has received your company’s settings once (on its first start and after signing out); when it starts offline, the settings it last received apply. A change of the setting applies without restarting the app. Addresses stored on the computer earlier are not deleted; the app removes them before sending.
  • Private windows without title or address: a private browser window that the app recognizes is recorded as the browser app only, without the window title or the address, whatever your company’s settings. On Windows the app recognizes Chrome and Brave incognito windows in every language, Edge InPrivate windows and Firefox private windows; 2.0.6 recognized them only by English words in the title and still recorded the title. On Windows, Opera, Vivaldi and Arc private windows are recognized only if the browser keeps Chromium’s wording for them. On macOS, Chrome and Brave incognito windows now keep the browser’s name, so their time counts as time in that browser; Safari private windows on macOS cannot be told apart and are recorded like normal windows. Private windows are not recognized on Linux.

Desktop app 2.0.6

Version 2.0.6Desktop app

Desktop app 2.0.6 records website addresses on Windows too, in Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera, Vivaldi, Chromium, Arc and Firefox, if your company records website addresses (the Record website addresses setting, on by default):

  • Websites on Windows: the app reads the address of the open page from the browser’s address bar, so browser time on Windows is split by website and your organization’s per-site productivity rules apply. Before, Windows only sent the browser’s name and the window title. With the setting off, the app removes the address before sending, as on macOS.
  • Private windows: a window whose title contains InPrivate, Private Browsing or Incognito sends no address; its title is recorded like any other window’s if your company records window titles. The app only recognizes these English words, so a private window of a browser set to another language sends its address.
  • Typing is not a visit: while you type in the address bar, the app keeps the address of the page that is open.

Desktop app 2.0.4

Version 2.0.4Desktop app

Desktop app 2.0.4 is the first version whose Windows installer is code-signed:

  • Signed Windows installer: the installer, the app and the uninstaller are signed by VERFAY YAZILIM VE TEKNOLOJI ANONIM SIRKETI, the company behind Workify360, and carry a timestamp. Windows shows the company as the publisher instead of “Unknown publisher”. While Windows is still getting to know the new certificate it may show the SmartScreen warning once more (install on Windows).
  • No other changes: macOS and Linux are the same as 2.0.3.

Desktop app 2.0.5

Version 2.0.5Desktop app

Desktop app 2.0.5 makes the Focus icon easy to find:

  • Visible tray icon on light themes: on Windows and Linux the icon is now the green Workify360 symbol on a solid disc, so it stands out on light and dark taskbars alike; it turns grey while private time is on or nobody is signed in (tray menu). On macOS the menu bar icon now follows the menu bar’s colour.
  • Download links always give the newest version: the “latest” download links no longer serve the previous version for a few hours after a release.

Desktop app 2.0.3

Version 2.0.3Desktop app

Desktop app 2.0.3 makes the first start and the sign-in clearer, mainly on Windows:

  • Sign-in window at start: when nobody is signed in, the app now opens a “Sign in to Workify360 Focus” window with Sign in and Later, and says where its icon is (Windows: notification area, macOS: menu bar). When the app starts with the computer, the window appears at most once a day (sign-in and sessions).
  • Windows sign-in: certificates are now checked by the operating system, so “Sign in…” also works on computers where Windows had not yet downloaded the needed root certificate. If the sign-in cannot start, a window says why instead of a short notification.
  • Help ▸ Show log file opens the folder of the app’s log file with the file selected.
  • Windows installer: fixes the “Error opening file for writing … modern-wizard.bmp” message some computers showed when the installer opened; the installer now shows the Workify360 Focus images.
  • Security: the app’s local service on your computer now accepts only the app itself, with a new key at every start, and only the app’s own records are sent.

Help center and changelog

Website

The new help center has English and Turkish guides for installing the desktop app, setting up the company, reading reports, privacy, shifts and absences, billing and troubleshooting. It includes What Focus records about me, which explains what is recorded, what is not and who can see it.

This changelog lists what changes in the desktop app, the dashboard and the help center.

Desktop app 1.1.3

Version 1.1.3Desktop app

  • macOS: the window helper that reports the app and window in front now runs on macOS 12 Monterey and later. Before this version it could fail to start on older macOS releases, so no apps were recorded.

Version 1.1.3 also contains the fixes of 1.1.1 and 1.1.2:

  • The tray icon no longer fails to start (1.1.1).
  • The macOS window helper is part of the app again, and the watchers find the local server when it has to use another port (1.1.2).

Download the latest version from Downloads in the dashboard. On macOS, grant the Accessibility permission again after installing (how).

Shifts and absences

DashboardAPI

The dashboard has a new Calendar menu with shift planning and an absence calendar (Premium).

  • Shifts: plan shifts from templates, including night shifts that count toward the day they start, several shifts a day, office or remote, and Copy week. Open shifts can be picked up by the team; employees can propose a shift or ask to swap, and an owner, admin or team admin approves.
  • Absences: seven built-in leave types that you can adjust, half-day and hourly leave, approvals with e-mail notifications, leave balances with a yearly allowance and carried-over days, and built-in Turkish public holidays (including the half-day eves) next to your own company holidays.
  • Pending approvals now lists offline time, leave requests and shift requests in one place.
  • Reports use the plan of the day: someone on a full day of approved leave, or on a public holiday with no shift scheduled, is not marked absent or late, and Effectiveness leaves those days out. Shift and absence exports are available from the export dialog.
