Sessions and devices

A session is one place where you are signed in: a browser with the dashboard open, or the desktop app on a computer. A device is a computer on which the desktop app has signed in. Your profile lists both, so you can check that nobody else uses your account and end what you no longer use.
Open Profile from your user menu in the top bar, then your profile’s Sessions and devices tab.
Your sessions
Section titled “Your sessions”For each session the list shows the app (dashboard or desktop app), the device or browser, when you signed in, the last activity and the IP address it was opened from. The session you are using right now carries the badge “This session”.
- Sign out next to a session: that browser or desktop app must sign in again. Signing out a dashboard session also ends the sign-in of that browser, so it asks for the password again.
- Sign out all other sessions at the top: every session except the one you are using ends at once. Tick the box that confirms every other browser and the desktop app will ask you to sign in again, then confirm. Use it after you signed in on a shared or lost computer. The dashboard tells you how many sessions were signed out.
The list covers the organization you are signed in to. A password reset signs out every session of your account.
How long a session lasts
Section titled “How long a session lasts”Your organization’s sign-in policy decides when you must sign in again (sign-in policy). By default:
| Session | Ends |
|---|---|
| Dashboard, unused | after 12 hours without activity |
| Dashboard, in use | 7 days after sign-in at the latest |
| Desktop app | asks for a new sign-in after 30 days |
When a session ends, the desktop app keeps recording on the computer and sends the data after you sign in again (signing in and expired sessions).
Your devices
Section titled “Your devices”The Devices list of the same tab shows each computer with its operating system, the desktop app version, when it was last seen and its status. Remove device signs the desktop app on that computer out: “The desktop app on this device will ask you to sign in again.” It asks for a new sign-in before it sends anything again. Removing a device does not delete the data it already sent and does not uninstall the app.
Company devices (owners and admins)
Section titled “Company devices (owners and admins)”Owners and admins open Settings → Devices to see every computer of the organization, with the person, operating system, app version, when it was last seen and its status. Filter by status. Revoke device signs its desktop app out in the same way: the app stops sending data and asks to sign in again.
At the top, a health summary counts:
- people who have never installed the desktop app (“Never installed: 3”, with the number of people),
- computers that have not synced for 24 hours (“Not synced for 24 hours: 1”).
A computer that stopped syncing usually has a signed-out app, a stopped app or a network problem; see data is not syncing. Each person can check their own computers too (system and my devices).
If you see a session you do not know
Section titled “If you see a session you do not know”- Choose Sign out all other sessions.
- Change your password on your profile’s Security tab.
- Turn on two-step verification if your organization offers it.
- Tell your admin, who can check the audit log.
