System and my devices

When something does not look right, System and my devices answers the first questions in one place: is the service working, and is my computer sending data? Open it from the bottom of the dashboard’s help panel (getting help in the dashboard).

LineWhat it tells you
VersionThe version of the dashboard you are using
Sign-inHow the dashboard signs you in, shown as New sign-in
Language, Time zone, BrowserWhat the dashboard uses to show texts, dates and times
Help contentWhere the help comes from: Up to date from the help center, a Saved copy when the help center could not be reached, or the Built-in copy that comes with the dashboard
LineWhat it tells you
ServiceWhether the Focus service answers, and its version
E-mail sendingWhether e-mail sending is set up. When it is not, invitations, e-mail reports and calendar e-mails are not sent, and support requests are saved without an e-mail
ExportsWhether export files can be stored. When they cannot, new exports fail with export_storage_unavailable

Each computer on which you signed in to the desktop app is listed with its operating system, the desktop app version, when it was last seen, when its last data arrived and how the last upload went.

  • Seen recently and data arrived: everything works. Numbers appear a minute or two after the app sends them.
  • Seen, but no data for a while: the app is running but has nothing to send (idle, private time, outside tracking hours) or cannot send it; see data is not syncing.
  • Not seen for a long time: the app is not running, is signed out, or the computer is off.
  • No devices: the desktop app has not been installed or signed in yet (install the desktop app).

Owners and admins also see two lists for the people they manage:

  • people who have never installed the desktop app,
  • computers that have not synced for 24 hours.

The full list of the organization’s computers is under the company devices (sessions and devices).

Create diagnostics collects a short technical summary: the dashboard version, language, time zone, browser, the page you are on, the service version and your computers (operating system, app version, when last seen). It is shown to you before anything is sent. Copy puts it on the clipboard, for example to paste it into an e-mail to support. Send to support saves it for support and shows a reference such as DIAG-7K3Q9P; mention it to support. You can also attach the diagnostics to a support request (contacting support).

The diagnostics never contain app names, window titles, URLs, activity data, passwords or tokens, and they are deleted after 30 days. Diagnostics that contain such data are refused (diagnostics_invalid), and so are diagnostics larger than 32 KB (payload_too_large).
