The account is read-only (subscription_read_only)
Section titled “The account is read-only (subscription_read_only)”A banner says the account is read-only, and saving a change fails with subscription_read_only. This happens when:
- the trial ended without a purchase and the organization has more than 3 active users,
- the subscription was cancelled, its period ended and the organization has more than 3 active users, or
- a payment failed and the 7-day grace period is over.
An organization with at most 3 active users is not made read-only when the trial or a cancelled subscription ends: it continues on the Free plan (plans and billing).
What still works
- Signing in and viewing everything: dashboards, reports, settings.
- Exports, so your data is never locked in.
- Billing, your own profile, deactivating users and transferring ownership.
- The desktop apps keep collecting and sending activity; nothing is lost.
What does not work
- Any other change: settings, users, teams, rules, offline time and approvals, leave, shifts and so on.
- Scheduled e-mail reports are not sent.
How to fix it: the account owner opens Settings → Billing and buys or renews a plan. Everything works again right after the payment is confirmed. If 3 people are enough, the owner can instead deactivate users until at most 3 are active and switch to the Free plan on the same page, which takes effect right away. If you are not the owner, ask the account owner.
The feature is not in your plan (feature_not_in_plan)
Section titled “The feature is not in your plan (feature_not_in_plan)”The page shows an upgrade message instead of its content, a menu item has a lock, or an action fails with
feature_not_in_plan. The feature belongs to a higher plan, for example shift planning, the absence calendar and
client invoicing, which are part of Premium.
- The owner sees Upgrade plan, which opens the billing page with the right plan highlighted. An upgrade takes effect right away (plans and billing).
- Everyone else sees a request to ask the account owner.
A feature marked “Coming soon” is not available in any plan yet.
Up to 3 users on the Free plan (plan_seat_limit)
Section titled “Up to 3 users on the Free plan (plan_seat_limit)”Inviting someone, reactivating a deactivated user, importing users or accepting an invitation fails with
plan_seat_limit. The organization is on the Free plan, which allows up to 3 active users, and 3 are already active.
Invited users who have not accepted yet do not count toward the 3.
- The owner opens Settings → Billing and chooses Pro or Premium. Then invite or reactivate the people again (plans and billing).
- If you are not the owner, ask the account owner. Someone who was invited and gets this error when accepting the invitation asks the person who invited them.
Switching to the Free plan fails with the same code when the organization has more than 3 active users: deactivate users until at most 3 are active first (users, roles and invitations).
