Work Is Tracked. Personal Time Isn't.
With Private Time, team members pause tracking from the desktop tray for a doctor's call, a personal errand or a lunch break, and switch back when they are done. While it is on, no app, title or URL is sent; managers only see that the time was private.
Why Private Time matters
Tracking only works when people trust it. Giving them control over personal moments is how that trust is earned.
Respect for personal life
Life happens during work hours. A personal call or errand shouldn't end up in a work report.
Not counted as idle
Private time is shown on its own instead of as idle time, and it stays out of productivity scores. It is not counted as work either, so the numbers describe work only.
Honest conversations
Managers see that time was private — not what happened during it — which keeps the focus on work outcomes.
How Private Time works
Private Time is part of the Focus desktop app. It pauses tracking on that computer until the person switches it off.
On and off from the tray
Team members choose Private time in the Focus tray menu and choose it again when they are back. While it is on, the tray icon turns grey and the menu shows when private time started.
A reminder so it is not forgotten
While private time is on, a reminder appears every 15, 30 or 45 minutes — each person picks the interval. Clicking the reminder switches tracking back on.
No app, title or URL is sent
During private time the desktop app sends no app, title or URL and no keyboard or mouse input to Focus. Only the start and end of the private period leave the computer, so the dashboard can show it as private instead of idle.
Managers see a neutral band
On the day timeline, private time is a neutral Private band without details. Instead of the current app, the Team page shows a Private status and since when, updated about every minute.
Your company decides
Private time is on by default. Administrators can turn it off for the company, a team or a person; then private time can no longer be started, and a private period that is still open ends.
Set on the computer, not in the dashboard
Private periods come from the desktop app and cannot be edited later in the dashboard.
Privacy controls across Focus
Private Time is one part of a broader set of controls designed to collect only what's needed.
No keystroke content
Keyboard and mouse input is used only to detect activity and idle time. What people type is not recorded.
Window titles and URLs are optional
Window-title capture and URL tracking can each be turned off, so reports show only the application. About privacy settings.
Role-based access
Who can see which data is defined by user roles, so individual activity is visible only to those who need it.
GDPR & KVKK in mind
Our data handling is described in our Privacy Policy, including data subject rights under GDPR and KVKK.
Transparency is a practice, not a feature
Tools help, but trust comes from how tracking is introduced. We recommend three simple habits.
Explain what is tracked, why, who can see it and that managers see private time as a Private band — before anyone installs the client.
Leave window titles and URL tracking off unless there is a clear reason to use them.
Look for overload and blockers — not for reasons to micromanage.
